2017 Comic Cons; Buffy Contest; a new American Way comic series

Welcome to the Summer of 2017! Hopefully, you will have time to hit the beach, cookout, go to amusement parks and so on. If you got to stick around and work hard for the money … then that’s cool, too. But if you find yourself able to attend HeroesCon, Denver Comic Con, Florida Super Con, Raleigh Supercon or DragonCon — those will be my Summer 2017 shows — so please stop by my table and say hello.

Also, I would like to thank all who entered the Buffy Coloring Contest. The contest closed on Monday, June 5th and we are now reviewing entries. The winner will be announced during Denver Comic Con weekend (June 30 – July 2) probably on that Sunday because that tends to be a less busy day. We’re going to try to video our reviews of the entries and post it to the KabaLounge website and social media.

After Denver Comic Con ends, July 5th marks the return of comic book property that’s close and dear to me: The American Way. As you know John Ridley and I worked on the original comic book mini-series in 2006. Since then, John has continued his success in Hollywood, winning an Academy Award for ’12 Years a Slave’ and is the creator/ showrunner of the critically acclaimed anthology series ‘American Crime.’

It’s an honor to reunite with John to bring you the next chapter of the New American as he tries to keep communities safe amid the social turmoil of the 1970s. I’ve included a few preview pages below. Enjoy and hope to see you around this Summer!
