Here’s how the variant cover of Serenity: No Power In the ‘Verse #1 came to be, from my thumbnails and pencils to Karl Story’s final inks.

Anatomy of a Variant Cover

Buffy Season 12: The Reckoning #2

The way the process usually works is that I give Dark Horse a bunch of ideas when and if I have a synopsis of the story. Sometimes it’s too close to the main cover or they want something different represented, but I usually give them a bunch of ideas.

Strangely Enough [JUNE 2017] Part 2

Almost forgot to tell you that I have another Buffy fill-in coming your way soon. Season 11 #9 comes out on July 19 and features everyone’s favorite “bad” Slayer, Faith Lehane! The variant cover is below.

Also, Denver Comic Con 2017 is doing a reunion of Buffy “Baddies” with James Marsters, Juliet Landau, Clare Kramer and Mercedes McNab. Whedonverse alumni Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day will also be appearing. I did an exclusive for them that’s available on their merch website now.

I will be appearing at Denver Comic Con, June 30-July 2. They are doing a reunion of Buffy “Baddies” with James Marsters, Juliet Landau, Clare Kramer and Mercedes McNab. Whedonverse alumni Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day will also be appearing.

I’ve enjoyed working with Denver Comic Con over the years providing designs for their Captain Colorado character as well as their exclusives. All monies from their event go to their parent organization, Pop Culture Classroom. A non-profit that provides literacy programs using comic books, graphic novels, and board games as a way to engage kids and young adults.

Strangely Enough [JUNE 2017]

Welcome to the Summer of 2017! Hopefully, you will have time to hit the beach, cookout, go to amusement parks and so on. If you got to stick around and work hard for the money … then that’s cool, too. But if you find yourself able to attend HeroesCon, Denver Comic Con, Florida Super Con, Raleigh Supercon or DragonCon — those will be my Summer 2017 shows — so please stop by my table and say hello.

Also, I would like to thank all who entered the Buffy Coloring Contest. The contest closed on Monday, June 5th and we are now reviewing entries. The winner will be announced during Denver Comic Con weekend (June 30 – July 2) probably on that Sunday because that tends to be a less busy day. We’re going to try to video our reviews of the entries and post it to the KabaLounge website and social media.

After Denver Comic Con ends, July 5th marks the return of comic book property that’s close and dear to me: The American Way. As you know John Ridley and I worked on the original comic book mini-series in 2006. Since then, John has continued his success in Hollywood, winning an Academy Award for ’12 Years a Slave’ and is the creator/ showrunner of the critically acclaimed anthology series ‘American Crime.’

It’s an honor to reunite with John to bring you the next chapter of the New American as he tries to keep communities safe amid the social turmoil of the 1970s. I’ve included a few preview pages below. Enjoy and hope to see you around this Summer!

Gojira/Godzilla v Gamera

Have you ever wondered what would happen in a Godzilla V Gamera face-off? Having gone to G-Fest a few weekends ago and seeing the new King Kong movie trailer has got me feeling nostalgic… so I had to dig up these few pages I completed years ago. These were just for fun and not part of any official project.

One of the things I love about Gojira/Godzilla is that he can play either protagonist or antagonist depending on what side of the volcano he wakes up on. On this day, he’s clearly the heel for our Guardian of the Universe and friend to all children, Gamera. We can only imagine of the climactic battle that takes place after page 5. Maybe we’ll see it someday.

New Serenity comic book mini-series announced at SDCC!

Who’s #1? This guy! Been working on this for quite some time but now the official word is out at SDCC. Look for Serenity: No Power in the ‘Verse #1 to be released on October 26, 2016. ‘Verse is a new six-issue mini-series written by Chris Roberson and drawn by yours truly. The publisher is Dark Horse Comics, of course.

Entertainment Weekly was one of the news sources to break the story.

Strangely Enough [March 2016]

Apologies for the radio silence…

The first Kabalounge eBlast will be going out at the end of this month and will feature my past work on Deadpool (now published as Deadpool Classics) — so make sure you sign-up now.  The sign-up form is located at the bottom of the Kabalounge website and under the “Email SignUp” tab on the FB page.

My appearances schedule now includes Motor City Comic Con and Denver Comic Con. In regards to the latter, you might remember that I had to cancel last year, but I’m making up for it this year by supplying art and design for their marketing and exclusive merchandise. More info on this is coming soon.

Finally, expect to see another Serenity mini-series coming your way called “No Power in the Verse” which will be six-issues with writer Chris Robson (writer of the iZombie TV Show).

Cheers!

DC Comics-Georges Jeanty to Draw “Bruce Wayne”

DC Comics has reported on their “The Source” blog that Georges will be filling in on The Return of Bruce Wayne #4.

“We were lucky enough to sign on Georges Jeanty–hot off his work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer— to pencil the fourth installment of Grant Morrison’s RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE! In this chapter, Georges gets to illustrate Bruce Wayne in the “Wild West” period from Gotham City’s past.”
